The Marion L. Steele High School Athletic Department held a press event on Wednesday, November 14th at 2:45 pm in the Amherst Educational Foundation Creative Learning Center. We recognized five student-athletes, Kamryn Dziak (Women’s Basketball, Georgia State University), Josh Hill (Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field, Eastern Michigan University), Kasey McGraw (Softball, Youngstown State University), Madison O’Berg, (Softball, University Maryland, Baltimore County), and Sydney Walker (Women’s Track & Field, Youngstown State University), who all signed National Letters of Intent with NCAA Division I Institutions.
At the event, we introduced the student-athletes, we gave information on them, they signed the appropriate documents, and they were made available to the media for any questions/answers. Below you will find out information on each of these student-athletes.
Kamryn Dziak, Women’s Basketball, Georgia State University
Following her High School career, Kamryn will continue her academic and athletic career at Georgia State University, an NCAA Division I school and a member of the Sunbelt Conference. Through the first three years of her high school career, Kamryn has averaged 10.1 points per game, 2.4 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game, with 103 total steals. Through her junior season, she has been named 1st Team All-Lorain County (Junior), 2nd Team All-Southwestern Conference (Sophomore & Junior), and Honorable Mention All-District (all three years). Kamryn has also been a standout on our Girls Soccer Team where she earned 2nd Team All-Southwestern Conference, 2nd Team All-Lorain County, and Honorable Mention All-District Recognition. She was the Team’s defensive Player of the Year and the 3-D Award recipient. She has been voted a team captain 3-Times in Basketball (2) and Girls Soccer (1). Kamryn is a member of the National Honor Society and she earned Academic All-Ohio Honors for Soccer and Basketball. She will finish her athletic career here at Steele High School earning eight varsity letters in Soccer (4) and Basketball (4).

Josh Hill, Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field, Eastern Michigan University
Following his high school career, Josh will continue his academic and athletic career at Eastern Michigan University, an NCAA Division I School and a member of the Mid-American Conference. Josh is a 3 Time State Qualifier in Boys Cross Country. He finished 26th as a Sophomore, 7th as a Junior, and 3rd overall as a senior, earning All-Ohio Honors as a Junior and Senior. Josh won 2 Southwestern Conference Championships and 2 OHSAA District Championships, along with being named the Lorain County Runner of the Year 2 Times. In Track & Field, Josh has qualified for the State Meet twice in the 3200m Run. He finished 12th as a sophomore and 6th as a Junior. He was named the Southwestern Conference Track & Field MVP as a junior after winning the 800m Run, 1600m Run and 3200m Run, along with running a leg of the 4x800m Relay at the conference meet. Josh holds Indoor Track & Field Records in the 3200m Run (9:19.65) and the 5000m Run (15:13.72). The 5000m Indoor record was set at the Indoor National Meet where he finished 11th overall. He will finish his career at Steele High School having earned 8 varsity letters. Four letters in Boys Cross Country and Four Letters in Track & Field.

Kasey McGraw, Softball, Youngstown State University
Following her high school career, Kasey will continue her academic and athletic career at Youngstown State University, an NCAA Division I school and a member of the Horizon League. Through the first 3 years of her career, Kasey hit for a .474 average with 95 RBIs, 15 Homeruns, 47 Doubles, 2 Triples, while scoring 107 runs. Her Sophomore year she set school records with 25 Doubles and 49 hits during the season. Kasey has been named Honorable Mention All-Ohio (Junior), 1st Team All-District (Junior), 2nd Team All-District (Sophomore), Southwestern Conference MVP (Junior), 1st Team All-Southwestern Conference (Sophomore and Junior), 1st Team All-Lorain County (Sophomore and Junior), and 2nd Team All-Southwestern Conference and Lorain County (Freshman). She will finish her career as a four-year starter at Shortstop for the Lady Comets.

People Kasey would like to thank:
I would like to thank my parents, mostly, for always pushing me to be my best and driving and flying all over the country to take me to tournaments. I would like to thank my sisters, Kelsea and Kylee, for always helping me with softball and supporting me. I would like to thank to my grandparents for always coming to all games and cheering me on. I would like to thank Coach Reichert for always pushing me to my best. Lastly, I would to thank my boyfriend, Jacob Lezon, for always supporting me with everything I do.
Madison O’Berg, Softball, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC)
Following her high school career, Madison will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, an NCAA Division I school and a member of the America East Conference. Through her first 3 years, Madison has a 1.407 ERA with 412 Strikeouts. At the plate, she’s hit for a 0.384 average with 85 RBIs, 15 Homeruns, and 29 doubles. She was named 2nd Team All-Ohio (Junior), 1st Team All-District (Junior), 2nd Team All-District (Sophomore), 1st Team All-Southwestern Conference (All 3 Years), 1st Team All-Lorain County (Sophomore & Junior), and Lorain County Pitcher of the Year (Junior). She has received the Presidential Award of Excellence and has been on the honor roll all 3 years of High School. She will finish her career as a 4-year letter winner.

People Madison would like to thank:
My Mom, Coach Reich, and my travel coaches for always helping me and pushing me to be the best player and person that I can be. They have always helped me with whatever I’ve ever needed because they all always wanted the best for me and nothing less. I am so thankful for them.
Sydney Walker, Women’s Track & Field, Youngstown State University
Following her high school career, Sydney will continue her academic and athletic career at Youngstown State University, an NCAA Division I school and a member of the Horizon League. Sydney holds the school record in outdoor pole vault (11’), indoor pole vault (11’), and the pole vault relay (20’6). She finished 9th at Indoor State in Pole Vault as a junior. She is an OHSAA District Qualifier and placed at the Southwestern Conference Meet. Sydney is an Honor Roll Student and is currently ranked 25th in a class of 330. She will earn 10 varsity letters at the end of her career in Track & Field (4), Gymnastics (4), and Cross Country (2).
