The Marion L. Steele High School Athletic Department held a press event on Wednesday, November 13th at 3:00 pm in the Creative Learning Center. We recognized Lexy Alston (Eastern Michigan University/Women’s Soccer), Anna Dudziak (Ursuline College/Women’s Soccer), Lauren Pisgena (Notre Dame College/Volleyball), Taylor Pogachar (Millersville University/Women’s Soccer), and Ellie Schenk (Notre Dame College/Volleyball) who signed a National Letter of Intent with NCAA Institutions. Below you will find information on these five young ladies.
Lexy Alston, Eastern Michigan University, Women’s Soccer
Following her High School Career, Lexy will continue her academic and athletic careers at Eastern Michigan University, an NCAA Division I school in the Mid-American Conference. Lexy finished her soccer career scoring 56 Goals with 26 assists. She has been named 2nd Team All-Ohio three times (2017, 2018, and 2019). Lexy was named First Team All-Southwestern Conference all four years and First Team All-Lorain County all four years. She has been named All-Greater Cleveland 3 times (2017, 2018, and 2019). She was the Lorain County Player of the year in 2018 and the Southwestern Conference Player of the Year in 2018. Lexy was also a standout on the Track where she finished 7th at the OHSAA State Meet in the 400m in 2018 and she was a member of the 7th Place 4x400m Relay in 2018. She is also a member of our Girls Basketball Team where she was named 2nd Team All-Lorain County in 2019 and Honorable Mention All-Southwestern Conference in 2019. Lexy will finish her High School career earning 8 varsity letters (4 girls soccer, 2 in Girls Basketball, and 2 in Track & Field).

Lexy would like to thank her parents for being her biggest fans and for all of their support. She would like to thank her coaches for pushing her and continuing to help develop her athletic abilities. Lastly, she would like to thank Rehab Consultants for keeping her healthy and for giving her a place to go and be herself.
Anna Dudziak, Ursuline College, Women’s Soccer
Following her High School Career, Anna will attend Ursuline College, an NCAA Division II school in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Anna played defense and midfield for the Lady Comets. As a senior she was named Honorable Mention All-Lorain County, she was named a Southwestern Conference Scholar-Athlete, and she is an Academic All-Ohioan. She is also a standout for our Track & Field program where she earned 1st Team All-Lorain County and 1st Team All-Southwestern Conference honors as a member of our 4x100m relay team in 2019. She will finish her athletic career earning 7 varsity letters (4 in Track and 3 in Girls Soccer). Anna is a member of the National Honor Society and she has earned academic honor awards her first three years at Steele.

Anna would like to thank her parents for always supporting her in her soccer career. She truly appreciates their guidance through the recruiting process. She would also like to thank her coaches and teammates for pushing her to work hard everyday and for giving her a second family.
Lauren Pisegna, Notre Dame College, Volleyball
Following her High School Career, Lauren will attend Notre Dame College, an NCAA Division II school in the Mountain East Conference. As a senior, Lauren had 103 kills, 77 blocks, while serving 39 aces. She was named 2nd Team All-Lorain County and Honorable Mention All-Southwestern Conference as a senior. Lauren is a Two-Year Letter winner for the Lady Comets.

Lauren would like to thank her parents, coaches, family, and friends who have supported her during her career. It is their support that has allowed her this opportunity to continue playing at the next level.
Taylor Pogachar, Millersville University, Women’s Soccer
Following her High School Career, Taylor will attend Millersville University, an NCAA Division II school in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Taylor played midfield for the Girls Soccer Program. She has received many postseason awards throughout her career. She has been named 1st Team All-Southwestern Conference, 1st Team All-Lorain County, Honorable Mention All-Greater Cleveland, Honorable Mention All-Southwestern Conference, and Honorable Mention All-Lorain County. She is a four-year letter winner as a member of our Girls Soccer Program. Taylor is a standout in the classroom, too. She was named Academic All-Ohio and she has earned academic honors all four years at Steele.

People Taylor would like to thank:
Taylor would like to thank her mom who has supported her throughout her career by driving her to practices and traveling to all of her games. She would like to thank her dad who believed in her when she felt no one else did. He was always the one she could go to for motivation and support. Taylor would like to thank her coaches. Rob Miller has been her club coach since 8th grade and was very instrumental in her recruiting process. Gary Gonzalez has supported her throughout her high school career. She feels her high school experience truly made her who she is today.
Ellie Schenk, Notre Dame College, Volleyball
Following her High School Career, Ellie will attend Notre Dame College, an NCAA Division II school in the Mountain East Conference. She finished her career with 828 Digs and 45 Aces. As a senior, Ellie was named Honorable Mention All-District, 1st Team All-Lorain County, and 2nd Team All-Southwestern Conference. Following her junior year she was named Honorable Mention All-Southwestern Conference. She is a three-year letter winner for the volleyball program.

People Ellie would like to thank:
Ellie would like to thank her parents for the endless support they give her and she is so thankful for everything they did for her. She would like to also thank them for traveling to every 9-hour tournament on weekends and never missing a high school game. Ellie would like to thank her sisters and her grandparents for all of their support as well. She wouldn’t be who she is today without them. Lastly, Coach Cogan and Coach Sanchez have shaped her into the player she is today and she wants to thank them for always pushing her to be her best.
