The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association has named Comet Basketball Standouts, Christian Pfeiffer & Amaya Staton, to their Academic All-Ohio Teams. This honor is a result of their hard work in the classroom, their contributions in the community, and their production on the basketball court.
Christian maintains a 3.925 Grade Point Average, which ranks him in the top 20% of the Class of 2020. He’s a Southwestern Conference Scholar-Athlete, he’s a member of the National Honor Society, and he has received high Academic Honors all four years at Steele High School. In the Community, Christian is an active volunteer with Special Olympics, he has participated on both our Unified Basketball and Track & Field Teams, he’s a volunteer at the Food Kitchen, and he took part in the clean-up after the Floods in West Virginia. On the court this season, he averaged 14.2 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. He set the single singles school record for blocks with 65. Christian will be continuing his academic and athletic career at Baldwin Wallace University.
Amaya maintains a 3.926 Grade Point Average, which places her in the Top 20% of Class of 2020. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and she has received high Academic Honors all three years she has attended Steele High School. Amaya was awarded the Voltaire Award for Creative Writing, the LCABSE Award, and the Herodotus Award for excelling in History. She’s an active with Special Olympics, including participating with our Unified Basketball Team. She’s has volunteered at Murray Ridge, Second Harvest Foodbank, Black River Clean-up, and our community Youth Basketball Program. On the court this season, Amaya averaged 13.8 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game. She set the single season blocks school record with 55. Amaya will be continuing her Academic and Athletic career at Cleveland State University.
