Multiple Teams · Lexy Alston Named Lorain County’s Female Athlete of the Year


Today, the Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association named Lady Comet Three Sport Star, Lexy Alston, the 2020 Female Athlete of the Year. Lexy is the First Amherst Steele Student-Athlete to receive this honor! She finished her athletic career earning nine Varsity Letters in three sports, Girls Soccer (4), Girls Track & Field (3), and Girls Basketball (2).   This Fall, Lexy will be continuing her academic and soccer careers at Eastern Michigan University.

Lexy excelled in all three sports for the Lady Comets.  On the soccer field, she was named 2nd Team All-Ohio three times (2017, 2018, & 2019). She was 1st Team All-Southwestern Conference and 1st Team All-Lorain County all four years of her career. Lexy was named 1st Team All-Greater Cleveland three times (2017, 2018, and 2019). In 2018, she was the Southwestern Conference Player of the Year and the Lorain County Player of the Year.  Lexy finished her career scoring a total of 56 Goals with 26 Assists.

On the Track, she was a five time OHSAA State Qualifier.  Lexy qualified twice in the 400m (2017 & 2018), twice as a member of the 4x200m Relay (2017 & 2018), and once in the 4x400m Relay (2017). She earned All-Ohio Honors twice in 2018 when she finished 7th in the 400m and her 4x400m Relay finished 7th. Lexy was a five-time Southwestern Conference Champion.  She won the 400m twice (2017 & 2018), she was a member of the 4x200m Relay (2017), a member of the 4x400m Relay (2017), and she won the 200m Dash (2018).

On the court, Lexy was a key member of our Girls Basketball Team, who finished as OHSAA District Runners-up this past winter. Over her career, she was named 2nd Team All-Lorain County twice (2018-19 & 2019-20) and twice she was named Honorable Mention All-Southwestern Conference (2018-19 & 2019-20).  This past winter, she was named to the inaugural Lorain County All-Defensive Team.

In addition to being a great Student-Athlete, Lexy gave her time to her school and her community.  She attended the Special Olympics Prom. She was a key member of the Unified Track & Field Team, her junior year, where she was selected to be a torch runner.  She helped the future of the Lady Comets Soccer and Basketball programs at their Youth Camps, as well as our Mini Dribblers program for children in 2nd to 6th Grade.  She helped out at the Mercy Health Recreation Center Youth Camps.  Lexy participated annually with our Girls Soccer program at the Amherst Community Pride Day.  She helped with the Clearview Community Walks and she was a Brownheim Township Christmas Volunteer.

Lexy is the daughter of Aric and Kellie Alston.
